Hiccups |
|
Natural Cures
Normally,
hiccups do not require any medical treatment
and they subside on their own. However,
try the following home remedies to try
to quickly stop the occurrence of hiccups:
|
Sip cold water or
suck on an ice cube. |
|
Swallow one teaspoon
of dry, white table sugar. Repeat
up to three more times at two minute
intervals if necessary. |
|
Put sugar under
the tongue. |
|
Gargle with water
or mouthwash. |
|
Breathe into a
paper bag, not plastic. (Do not
place a bag over your head!) |
|
Hold your breath
for a short period of time. |
|
Bite on a lemon
or a piece of fresh ginger root.
|
|
Breathe slowly
and deliberately. |
|
Concentrate on the hiccups and
try to mentally control them. |
|
It is also believed
that hiccups will disappear if someone
startles you or scares you. However
it may be difficult to be scared
by someone whom you asked to scare
you! |
