Boils

Symptoms of Boils

Boils usually begin as red, swollen lumps that cause a feeling of soreness when touched. These lumps quickly fill with pus and grow larger and more painful until they finally rupture and drain. Boils usually heal within approximately two weeks and some may heal within a few days of occurrence.

Additional signs of boils include:

Skin irritation and itchiness
Swelling around the infected area
Inflammation of the skin around the infected area
Swollen lymph nodes
Fever resulting from boil formation (may need medical attention

Natural Cures

If boil symptoms are evident, utilize treatment immediately to avoid a further spread of the infection. A boil is considered ready for drainage when a pustule or a head has formed on the boil. In most cases, the boil drains without assistance or may be opened up once the head appears on the surface. However, it is advisable to have a dermatologist drain a larger boil.
The following are some natural remedies that are beneficial in treating boils:

Hotpacks

Hot packs may aid in alleviating painful boils. Hot packs increase the circulation that contributes to pushing the pus to the surface. The application of hot packs on a continual basis will help to burst the boils once the heads are formed.
Soak a soft washcloth in warm water, wring it, and use it as a warm compress. Apply such compresses for 20-30 minutes approximately three to four times each day. Be patient because the boil may not completely heal until five to ten days.
Common herbs and spices from your kitchen can be utilized to cure boils. Here are a few tips:

Garlic and Onion

Combine garlic and onion juice in equal parts and apply on the affected areas. This mixture will assist the boils in developing and eventual draining. You may also use either of the juices alone for external application.
Consume two to three raw cloves of garlic to cure boils.

Turmeric

Use nature’s antiseptic to cure boils.

Combine one teaspoon of turmeric powder in half of a glass of warm water or warm milk and drink it three times each day.
Consume turmeric capsules each day but ensure that the daily dose does not exceed 450 milligrams.
Mix turmeric powder with honey and apply the mixture directly on the boil. Leave it on the boil overnight.
Make a paste with one teaspoon of milk cream, one half of a teaspoon of vinegar and one pinch of turmeric. Use the paste as a poultice so that the boil may mature and heal without further spreading of the infection.

Diet and Boils

Although there may be no direct correlation between diet and probability of developing boils, it is always important to maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle. Your dietary habits may assist in preventing the development of boils and manage them if they are developed.

Consume sufficient amounts of foods that are rich in Vitamin C, Vitamin E and zinc. Citrus fruits, soybeans, eggs, brewer’s yeast, pumpkin seeds, and lean steak are examples of such foods.
Avoid consuming spicy foods such as pickles, sauces and condiments in large quantities.
Drink a large quantity of water to remove toxins from the system and to keep the skin soft and supple.
It is always crucial to minimize the consumption of greasy and fatty foods. Additionally monitor sugar consumption and avoid consuming high-calorie and rich desserts, sugary drinks and candies.
